Learn about Sentinel Features.
We understand your concerns. With the rise of malicious bots designed to “nuke” servers—wiping channels, banning members, and causing chaos—it’s only natural to be cautious when inviting a powerful moderation bot like Sentinel into your community.
Sentinel proudly wears the Verified Bot checkmark on Discord. This means we are held to a higher standard of trust and compliance by Discord. To receive and maintain verification, we must:
Abide by Discord’s Developer Terms of Service
Complete ID verification, which includes providing government-issued identification, such as:
Full Legal Name
No malicious actor—or so-called “nuker” bot—would ever provide that level of personal identification to Discord.
All billing for premium features is securely managed by Discord itself, using Stripe, a trusted and industry-standard payment processor. This means:
We never see or store your payment information.
All payment processing is PCI-compliant and handled directly by Discord.
Your purchases and subscriptions are protected under Discord’s own payment policies.
This ensures maximum safety and transparency for your organization.
For us, we had to provide our:
Social Security Number (SSN) or similar, depending on the region
Valid Tax Information
Once more, No malicious actor—or so-called “nuker” bot—would ever provide that level of personal identification to Discord.
Sentinel believes in building trust through transparency. That’s why parts of Sentinel’s systems are open-source and available on our GitHub organization. You’re free to review the code, audit how things work, or even contribute if you’re a developer.
This open approach sets us apart from shady or closed-source bots—we have nothing to hide.
Sentinel was built to protect communities—not harm them. Our goal is to empower server owners, moderators, and developers with modern, secure tools to:
Manage large communities
Prevent raids and nukes
Enforce rules and maintain a safe space
If you have any other questions or concerns, our team is always happy to chat.
Sentinel isn’t just safe—it’s built to keep you safe. Thanks for trusting us. 💙

Q: Can I moderate multiple games from the same Discord server? Yes! Sentinel supports multiple linked experiences, allowing you to moderate different games within a single server.
Q: Are moderation logs visible to players? No, logs are only accessible to authorized moderators through Sentinel’s audit logs and webhook integrations.
Q: Can I customize what roles have access to moderation commands? Yes! You can define role-based permissions for all Sentinel commands via Discord role settings
In Sentinel, a Workspace is a required feature for managing moderation across your Discord server (guild) and related Roblox experiences. Each Discord guild must have one registered Workspace, as it is the foundation for all moderation actions and game linking within that community.
One Workspace per Discord Guild: Every Discord server must register a single Workspace in order to use Sentinel's moderation tools. This Workspace is essential for linking your Roblox experiences and managing all moderation activities.
Experience Registration: Once your Workspace is set up, you can register multiple Roblox experiences under it. This is especially useful for developers managing multiple games, allowing for centralized control over bans, warnings, and other moderation functions.
Global Ban Functionality: Workspaces allow you to issue global bans across all linked experiences. This means that if a player violates the rules in one game, they can be banned across all of your games instantly, maintaining consistency and improving community safety.
Imagine you run a development studio called BIG Games. By creating a Workspace named "BIG Games" in Sentinel, you can link your Roblox titles such as:
Pet Simulator X
Pet Simulator 1
Now, if a player is banned in Pet Simulator X, that ban automatically extends to Pet Simulator 1 and any other games under the BIG Games Workspace if chosen, Sentinel has specific-experience banning functionality as well. This ensures that once a decision is made, it applies across your entire game network without having to manage bans individually.
The Role Synchronization system in Sentinel allows for seamless role management between Roblox and Discord, ensuring that users have the correct permissions and access levels across both platforms. This feature automatically assigns, updates, and removes roles based on a user’s Roblox Group ranks, gamepass ownership, badges, or in-game status.
Group Rank Syncing: Automatically assigns Discord roles based on a user’s Roblox Group rank.
Gamepass & Badge Syncing: Grant Discord roles if a user owns a specific gamepass or badge.
Premium & VIP Perks: Lock exclusive Discord channels or in-game features behind verified roles.
Roles are automatically updated periodically.
The Sentinel Account Linking system allows users to seamlessly link their Discord and Roblox accounts for improved moderation, verification, and user management. By associating a player’s Roblox identity with their Discord profile, server administrators can enforce role-based permissions, automate rank assignments, and enhance security across platforms.
Users can link their accounts in seconds using:
Prompts the user to log in via Roblox OAuth.
Confirms ownership of the Roblox account.
Stores the verified connection for future use.
Auto-Assign Roles: Automatically assign Discord roles based on Roblox Group ranks, gamepasses, or badges.
Group Rank Syncing: Keep Discord roles updated with a user’s Roblox Group status.
VIP & Premium Perks: Restrict specific channels or in-game features to verified users only.
Run /verify
in your Discord server.
Click the OAuth login link provided by Sentinel.
Sign in with your Roblox account to confirm ownership.
Once verified, your Discord and Roblox accounts will be linked.
Q: Can users link multiple Roblox accounts to one Discord? No, each Discord account can only be linked to one Roblox account for security reasons.
Q: What happens if a user changes their Roblox username? Sentinel will update the linked account upon them re-verifying.

Welcome to Sentinel! Follow these steps to set up your Discord server and start managing moderation for your Roblox and Discord communities.
To begin, you'll need to invite the Sentinel bot to your Discord server. The bot is your central tool for managing moderation actions and registering Workspaces.
Follow the instructions to add the Sentinel bot to your Discord server.
Once the bot is in your server, you'll need to verify yourself using Roblox's OAuth system to ensure your account is properly linked.
In any channel where the bot has permissions, type the following command:
You will receive a link prompting you to log in with Roblox. Follow the link and authenticate your account to complete the verification process.
Once verified, you're ready to set up your first Workspace.
After verifying yourself, it's time to set up your Workspace. The Workspace is required for managing moderation actions across your Roblox experiences and Discord server.
In your Discord server, type the following command:
Replace {whitelistKey}
with the unique key provided at sentinel.metatable.dev/key.
Replace {workspaceName}
with the name of your Workspace (e.g., "BIG Games").
Example command:
The bot will confirm that your Workspace has been created, and you'll be ready to start linking your Roblox experiences and setting up moderation rules.
You've now completed the basic setup of Sentinel. You can begin registering your Roblox experiences under the Workspace and start using Sentinel’s powerful moderation tools across your community.
To fully utilize Sentinel’s moderation tools, you’ll need to link your Roblox experiences to your Workspace. This enables seamless moderation across your games and Discord server. Follow these steps to link a game and bind the necessary API key.
To begin linking a game (place) to your Workspace, use the following command in your Discord server where the bot is active:
Replace placeid
with your game's Place ID (Not the universe or experience Id, the id you see on the games page as a player).
Replace placename
with the name of your game.
This command adds your Roblox game under your Workspace for global moderation and analytics.
Next, you need to create a Roblox Open Cloud API (OCAPI) key for the group or Roblox profile that owns the game. This key is required to enable communication between Sentinel and your game for features like publishing messages.
API key has to be under the Group that owns the game; if a group does not own the experience then the owner of the game must make the key!
Log in to your Roblox account and create an Open Cloud API key.
Ensure that the key has the following permissions:
messaging-service: publish
user-restrictions: write & read
Set the accepted IP addresses field to:
Set the Expiration date as: No Expiration
Once you’ve created the key, bind it to your experience by running the following command in Discord:
Replace {placeid}
with the ID of the place you are binding the API key to.
Replace {key}
with the API key you generated.
Additionally you can set the Global API Key (we call it the G-API Key or GAK) using the same key.
The Global API Key is not used for managing bans. Instead, it is specifically designated for:
Ranking API (Scope: groups:write
) – This key is used to modify group ranks and requires the appropriate permissions.
To manage bans, you must assign a separate API Key per experience. This per-experience API Key must include the user-restrictions
scope, allowing the bot to utilize Roblox's BanAsync API for handling bans effectively. Experiences can share the same API key if they are owned by the same API key owner.
Rest assured, your API key is stored securely within Sentinel. We use AES-256 encryption (Military Grade) to protect your key, meaning no one can access it without the proper decryption key. Not even Sentinel employees have access to production secrets—only Metatable, the CEO, holds the necessary credentials to decrypt the sensitive information. This ensures that your key is safe from abuse or protentional leaks.
Once the key is bound, your experience will be fully linked to your Workspace, allowing you to leverage Sentinel’s advanced moderation tools. Enjoy seamless integration and powerful control over your Roblox and Discord communities.

Managing a Discord community linked with a Roblox group can be a complex task, especially when ensuring that users are appropriately assigned roles based on their in-game status. Whether it’s assigning roles based on group ranks, membership in a Roblox group, or ownership of game passes, Role Sync simplifies this process by automatically synchronizing your Roblox users’ data with their corresponding Discord roles.
Role Sync is an automation feature that connects your Roblox game or group with your Discord server. It scans the user's Roblox data—such as group membership, ranks, and gamepass ownership—and automatically assigns them a corresponding role on Discord. This feature ensures that your Discord server always accurately reflects the in-game hierarchy and benefits.
Group Rank-Based Role Assignment:
Role Sync can automatically assign Discord roles based on a user's rank in a Roblox group. For instance, a player who is a "General" in your Roblox group can be given a "General" role in Discord, reflecting their in-game authority and status.
Group Membership Sync:
Role Sync detects whether a user is a member of a specified Roblox group and assigns them a specific role in Discord. This is ideal for communities that want to verify users' Roblox membership before granting them certain privileges or access in Discord.
Gamepass Ownership-Based Roles:
Players who purchase or own specific Roblox game passes can be automatically granted exclusive roles in Discord. For example, a player who owns a VIP game pass in your Roblox game can be assigned a "VIP" role in Discord, providing them with special perks or access to exclusive channels.
Real-Time Updates:
Role Sync regularly updates users’ roles based on changes to their Roblox data. If a player is promoted within the Roblox group or purchases a new game pass, their roles are automatically updated in Discord without requiring any manual intervention.
Group Roles Mapping:
Administrators can configure the system to map specific Roblox group ranks to corresponding Discord roles. For instance, "Developers" in the Roblox group can be assigned a "Developer" role in Discord, while "Moderators" get a "Moderator" role, ensuring that your server's hierarchy matches your Roblox group structure.
Game Asset Ownership Check:
In addition to group membership and gamepasses, Role Sync can also verify asset ownership, such as specific badges. If a player owns a unique badge in the Roblox game, they can be granted a special role in Discord, further connecting their in-game achievements to your community.
Linking Roblox to Discord:
To begin using Role Sync, users must link their Roblox account to their Discord profile through a secure verification process. This ensures that the system accurately identifies each player across both platforms. Once linked, the system periodically checks Roblox data to assign or update roles as needed.
Configuring Role Sync:
Server administrators can define specific rules for role assignment through a user-friendly interface. For example, you can map ranks such as “Captain” or “Lieutenant” in your Roblox group to corresponding roles in Discord, or assign a "VIP" role to users who own a specific gamepass.
Role Sync Automation:
Once configured, Role Sync automatically scans linked users’ Roblox profiles and adjusts their Discord roles accordingly. This system operates seamlessly in the background, ensuring that all users are correctly assigned without requiring manual updates or intervention from administrators.
Dynamic Group Membership Detection:
If a user leaves a Roblox group or is demoted to a lower rank, Role Sync dynamically adjusts their Discord role to reflect this change. This ensures that only current group members or those holding the appropriate rank are granted access to privileged roles in Discord.
Role Sync is highly customizable, giving administrators complete control over how roles are assigned and managed. Some of the customizable features include:
Role Mapping: You can define exactly how Roblox group ranks and gamepasses correspond to Discord roles, ensuring your community structure is mirrored perfectly across platforms.
Sync Frequency: You can adjust how frequently the system checks Roblox for updates, whether it’s in real-time or on a periodic basis (e.g., every hour or once per day).
Exclusion Lists: If there are certain users or ranks that should not be affected by Role Sync, you can add them to an exclusion list to prevent automatic role changes for those individuals.
Priority Role Assignment: In cases where a user qualifies for multiple roles (e.g., both a rank-based role and a gamepass-based role), the system can prioritize which role should be assigned based on a predefined hierarchy.
To ensure only verified users are linked and assigned roles, Role Sync uses a robust OAuth-based verification system that guarantees the user owns the Roblox account they're linking. This prevents impersonation and ensures that only legitimate players receive the corresponding Discord roles.
Rank-Based Community Management:
A military simulation group on Roblox may want to assign ranks like “Private,” “Sergeant,” or “Captain” to corresponding Discord roles. This ensures that users of different ranks are automatically assigned the correct role in Discord, simplifying community management.
VIP Role for Gamepass Holders:
A game developer can reward players who purchase a VIP gamepass with a special “VIP” role in Discord. This allows the VIP users to access exclusive channels and receive special treatment in the community.
Group Membership Verification:
A Roblox game with an associated Discord community may want to only allow Roblox group members into certain Discord channels. Role Sync ensures that only verified group members are granted access to these channels, reducing the risk of trolls or unverified users gaining entry.
Custom Role for Exclusive Item Owners:
A game that sells exclusive in-game items or badges can offer corresponding Discord roles to players who own these items. For instance, if a user holds a rare in-game sword, they could be granted an "Elite" role in Discord, signifying their achievement.
In today's fast-paced digital world, maintaining a healthy and respectful online community is more important than ever. Introducing AI Content Moderator: Smart Civility, an advanced version of the traditional Auto-Mod Banned Words system, powered by Nebula’s Artificial Intelligence Content Moderator. This cutting-edge AI detects malicious content such as harassment, bullying, racism, and other inappropriate behavior within both messages and images.
Smart Civility offers precise moderation by scanning messages for harmful language patterns, intent, and tone. Unlike simple word filters, it understands context, making it more effective at identifying subtle forms of harassment or coded language that typical moderation tools might miss. Whether it's handling aggressive messages or monitoring offensive imagery, Smart Civility is designed to keep your community safe and welcoming.
To access the full capabilities of AI Content Moderator: Smart Civility, users will require a Premium Whitelist subscription, available at:
$8 per month, or
$69 annually (a savings of 10%).
This Premium Whitelist grants users the most advanced moderation features, including automated real-time detection of toxic behavior, and priority customer support.
However, as of October, the Premium Whitelist is currently not available for sale as we undergo internal quality assurance to ensure everything functions perfectly. Stay tuned for updates on when this service will be open to the public.
In addition to text and image moderation, Nebula is actively working on a voice-chat recorder for Sentinel. This upcoming feature will extend Smart Civility to voice conversations, allowing the system to automatically flag or intervene in voice chats where offensive or harmful language is used. By combining AI-driven moderation for both text and voice, we aim to create a comprehensive solution that covers all forms of digital communication.
Stay ahead of the curve in community management by preparing for Smart Civility, the future of intelligent and context-aware moderation.
New query parameter "includeEvidence" to have the associatedEvidence field.
Bans published through this endpoint will not execute the following actions unless initiated via the Discord slash command:
Notify the banned user (if notifications are enabled).
Forcefully disconnect the client using MessagingService via the Roblox Open Cloud API.
This limitation exists because the Sentinel API does not directly handle these enforcement actions. Instead, these tasks are managed by the Sentinel Discord bot when a ban is issued through the /ban
command.
Future Considerations
We may explore expanding the API to include these functionalities in the future, allowing for more automated enforcement directly from API calls.
Roblox BanAsync
Integration
If BanAsync
is enabled in your game, it will automatically force-disconnect the banned client upon execution, ensuring immediate removal without requiring additional enforcement from Sentinel.
Sentinel’s CRON Jobs feature allows users to automate the unbanning process for players without requiring other players to be actively in-game. By leveraging the Roblox Open Cloud API (OCAPI), you can streamline unban requests to ensure smooth and immediate execution, even when players are offline.
Without CRON Jobs, unbans will require players to join the game to trigger the unban process Luau Jobs, which can delay resolution. Sentinel's CRON Jobs automate this task by utilizing the Roblox Open Cloud API, making unbans efficient and hassle-free.
A Linked Roblox OCAPI Key Before setting up CRON Jobs, ensure you’ve created and bound an OCAPI key to your workspace. If you haven’t done this yet, follow the guide here:
To enable CRON Jobs simply link a Roblox OCAPI key to your workspace with ``/bindapikey``.
Offline Support: Players do not need to be online for their bans to be lifted.
Time Efficiency: Automates repetitive tasks, freeing up moderation teams for other priorities.
Seamless Integration: Fully utilizes the Roblox Open Cloud API for a robust solution.
If you encounter any issues while setting up CRON Jobs or linking your OCAPI key please contact Sentinel Support.
An premium membership plan for the workspace is required to use this endpoint!
The Sentinel Roles System is a robust feature designed to give you precise control over permissions for users in your moderation ecosystem. With customizable roles, you can delegate authority, assign responsibilities, and even automate role assignments based on specific requirements.
This feature is distinct from Sentinel's Role-Sync Module, which focuses on syncing roles based on external services like Bloxlink or Rover. Sentinel Roles are tailored for managing permissions directly within the Sentinel platform.
Sentinel Roles allow you to grant specific permissions based on user responsibilities, such as:
Administrator: Access to all permissions and features.
Manage Bans: Ability to issue, lift, and manage player bans.
Manage Tickets: Authority to handle support/moderation tickets.
Moderate Discord: Permissions for managing Discord-specific moderation tasks (e.g., muting, banning, or kicking users).
This granularity ensures that every team member has the exact level of access they need—nothing more, nothing less.
Admins can manually assign Sentinel Roles to individual users. This approach is ideal for situations where:
You want full control over who receives specific permissions.
Automatic assignment criteria do not apply or are too broad.
For added convenience, Sentinel Roles can be automatically assigned based on specific criteria, such as:
Discord Role: Assign roles to users with a specific role in your Discord server.
Discord User ID: Grant permissions to specific Discord users.
Discord Guild Permission: Automatically assign roles based on existing Discord guild permissions (e.g., Administrator permissions).
Roblox User ID: Assign roles to specific Roblox users.
Roblox Group Rank: Grant roles to users based on their rank in a Roblox group.
Discord Guild Owner: Automatically grant roles to the owner of the Discord server.
Sentinel Roles can be configured to automatically grant a Discord role when assigned. This is useful for maintaining consistency between Sentinel permissions and your Discord server’s role hierarchy.
Sentinel Roles are not the same as the Role-Sync Module. Here's how they differ:
Sentinel Roles: Focuses on assigning and managing permissions within Sentinel for moderation and administrative tasks. These roles operate independently of external services.
Role-Sync Module: Synchronizes Discord roles based on Roblox group ranks, ownership of game passes, or other external criteria. This is comparable to third-party bots like Bloxlink or Rover.
Moderation Teams
Assign "Manage Bans" to team members responsible for player bans, ensuring they cannot access unrelated areas like tickets or Discord moderation.
Automated Permissions
Automatically assign "Moderate Discord" to users with the "Discord Moderator" role in your server.
Roblox-Based Moderation
Link "Manage Tickets" to specific Roblox group ranks, ensuring only high-ranking group members can access ticket management.
Cross-Platform Consistency
Use Sentinel Roles to grant permissions in Sentinel while automatically assigning Discord roles to match, creating a seamless experience across platforms.
Create a New Role
In Sentinel’s dashboard, navigate to the Roles section and click New Role.
Define Permissions
Choose the permissions this role should have (e.g., Manage Bans, Moderate Discord).
Set Assignment Criteria
Configure automatic assignment criteria, such as requiring a specific Discord role or Roblox group rank.
Link Discord Roles (Optional)
Enable the option to grant a Discord role when this Sentinel Role is assigned.
Save and Test
Save your role and test its functionality by assigning it to a test user or verifying automatic assignment.
Nebula Labs, a sister company to Sentinel, has developed an advanced Anti-Raid Protection and AI Content Moderator system designed to safeguard your Discord server against disruptive activities like raids, spam, and abusive behavior. With automated moderation and powerful AI-driven content analysis, this solution protects your community from both intentional malicious attacks and inadvertent content violations.
Mass-Pinging Protection:
The system detects when a user mentions too many people within a short time frame, which is a common tactic used by raiders to flood notifications and disrupt a server. When mass-pinging is detected, the system automatically takes action against the offending user, which could include muting, kicking, or banning, depending on the server’s configuration.
Role Change Abuse Prevention:
Role change abuse, where administrators or compromised accounts attempt to mass-remove or modify roles inappropriately, is flagged by the system. The Anti-Raid Protection monitors audit logs to detect abnormal patterns in role changes, such as when a user makes multiple role changes in a short time. If a user exceeds the limit, they are flagged for review and action, protecting your server from potential internal threats or administrative abuse.
Message Deletion Monitoring:
Mass message deletions can disrupt server records and cause confusion. The system tracks bulk deletions, especially those conducted by moderators or administrators. When the number of deleted messages exceeds a defined threshold, the system steps in to review the action and determine whether a raid is in progress or if moderation abuse is occurring.
Spam Detection:
Nebula Labs' system also includes spam prevention, automatically detecting when a user is sending too many messages in a short period. This is especially effective against bot raids or users flooding channels with disruptive content. The spam detection system temporarily mutes or kicks users to stop the flood and allow for proper review.
AI Content Moderation:
In collaboration with Sentinel, Nebula Labs leverages AI to monitor and filter inappropriate content. Using advanced machine learning algorithms, the AI Content Moderator identifies harmful, offensive, or inappropriate language, including hate speech, slurs, and other forms of unwanted content. The AI flags or deletes messages based on their severity, ensuring a safer community without requiring constant human oversight.
Banned Word Detection:
Servers can configure a list of banned words or phrases. The system scans all messages in real time, and any message containing a banned word is immediately flagged and the user is either warned or muted, depending on the server’s policy.
Multi-Channel Management:
Some servers may have high-traffic channels where moderation actions need to be more lenient, such as support or general chat channels. Nebula Labs’ system allows for channel-specific configurations, enabling you to ignore anti-raid protections in specific channels while maintaining strong protection in others.
Configurable Bypass Roles:
Not all users should be subjected to anti-raid measures. Trusted roles, such as moderators or admins, can be set up to bypass the anti-raid system entirely. This ensures that those who manage the community can do their job without restrictions, while others are closely monitored.
Audit Log Monitoring: The system actively listens to the server’s audit logs for any suspicious activity. For example, when a large number of users are mentioned or role changes happen in quick succession, the system cross-references this behavior with pre-configured thresholds.
Real-Time AI Moderation: Nebula Labs' AI Content Moderator runs continuously in the background, reviewing content in real time and learning from flagged patterns. Its algorithms are constantly updated to detect new forms of abusive behavior and inappropriate content, making it a self-improving moderation tool.
Automated Actions: Once a raid or abuse is detected, the system takes immediate action. Depending on your configuration, actions include muting, kicking, banning users, and even automatically alerting server owners and moderators with detailed logs of the incident.
User-Defined Limits: All protections come with customizable limits. Server owners can define the number of mentions that will trigger a mass-ping alert, the threshold for role changes, and how many deleted messages are considered a bulk deletion. This allows you to fine-tune the system for your community's needs.
While traditional raid protection systems often focus on external threats (like bot raids), Nebula Labs also addresses internal threats, such as compromised moderator or admin accounts. By tracking administrative actions like mass role changes or message deletions, the system can detect and stop malicious behavior before it spirals out of control. This extra layer of protection ensures that even trusted users are kept in check, reducing the risk of insider attacks.
With Nebula Labs' system, server administrators maintain full control over the level of protection their server requires. Settings can be fine-tuned to create a balance between security and freedom, enabling automated actions while still providing room for human oversight and intervention when needed.
Imagine a scenario where a rogue admin starts mass-removing roles from users. The Anti-Raid system detects this unusual behavior by tracking the frequency of role changes and automatically flags the admin for review. Depending on the server’s configuration, the admin could be muted, kicked, or banned, preventing further damage.
Nebula Labs' Anti-Raid Protection and AI Content Moderator offer comprehensive protection for Discord servers, mitigating threats ranging from external raids to internal abuse. Whether you run a large community or a small private group, this system ensures your server remains a safe, welcoming, and well-moderated space. With Nebula Labs, server security is no longer a manual, time-consuming task but an automated, intelligent solution designed to evolve with your community’s needs.
Webhooks require an Premium workspace membership plan.
Webhooks in Sentinel allow you to create custom integrations with other services or self-hosted tools, giving you flexibility in how you handle moderation events outside of the platform. By utilizing webhooks, you can automate tasks or trigger external actions whenever key events occur in your community.
Currently, Sentinel supports a few main events for webhook triggers:
GAME_BANNED: When a player is banned from a game.
GAME_UNBANNED: When a player is unbanned from a game.
DISCORD_BANNED: When a player is banned from the discord.
DISCORD_UNBANNED: When a player is banned from the discord.
This event is only fired when they are unbanned via Sentinel Commands!
How you use webhooks is entirely up to you! Here are a few potential use cases:
Notifications: Send real-time alerts to your custom dashboard or communication channels when a player is banned or unbanned.
Automated Reporting: Automatically log ban/unban events into your self-hosted tools for analytics, record-keeping, or moderation oversight.
Cross-Service Integration: Use webhooks to synchronize ban actions across multiple platforms, ensuring that players banned in one game or service are reflected in others.
Webhooks provide a powerful way to extend Sentinel’s moderation capabilities to external systems, allowing you to tailor actions to suit your community's needs.
When setting up webhooks in Sentinel, it’s important to implement your own authentication and security mechanisms, as there is currently no default authentication or custom headers sent in the webhook payloads. To ensure that only legitimate requests are accepted, we recommend adding an authentication key to your webhook URL.
A simple and effective way to secure your webhook endpoint is by including an authentication key in the URL itself. For example:
In this case, ABC_1234
serves as the authentication token. On your server side, you can verify that the token matches the expected value before processing the webhook data. If the token is incorrect or missing, you can reject the request to prevent unauthorized access.
Since Sentinel does not send any built-in authentication headers with webhook requests, it's critical to implement your own method of validation to prevent malicious actors from spoofing webhook events. By checking the auth
parameter or similar custom keys, you can ensure that only authorized requests trigger actions on your systems.
Use Strong Authentication Tokens: Ensure that the auth
key is complex and not easily guessable.
Use HTTPS: Always serve your webhook endpoint over HTTPS to encrypt communication and protect the authentication key from being intercepted.
Validate Incoming Requests: Check that the auth
key matches the expected value before accepting or processing any webhook event.
By following these practices, you can ensure that your webhook integration remains secure and that only authorized requests are processed.
The Sentinel Open Cloud API allows developers to interact with Sentinel’s moderation tools programmatically. By leveraging the API, you can integrate moderation actions like banning and unbanning players directly into your custom systems or workflows. This guide introduces the basics of using the Sentinel Open Cloud API.
The base URL for all API requests is:
Replace {version}
with the specific API version you are targeting, such as v1
.
Certain endpoints, such as those used for banning or unbanning players, require authentication via a Bearer token. This token is tied to an API Key associated with your Workspace.
Make sure to include this header in your requests when interacting with protected endpoints.
Each Workspace in Sentinel has an associated API Key that is used to perform sensitive actions like banning or unbanning players.
To create a new API key, run the following command in your Discord server:
This will generate a new API key for your Workspace and automatically invalidate the old one. Always keep your API key secure, as it grants access to critical moderation functionality.
The Open Cloud API can be used for several moderation actions, including:
Banning a Player: Enforce bans across your games and services programmatically.
Unbanning a Player: Lift bans on players directly through API calls.
Checking if a player is banned
Keep API Keys Secure: Do not share your API keys publicly. Treat them like passwords, as they grant access to your Workspace’s secure tools.
Use HTTPS: Ensure that all API requests are made over HTTPS to protect your data and authentication information.
With the Sentinel Open Cloud API, you have full control over integrating and automating your community's moderation system. Whether you want to build custom dashboards, automate banning workflows, or sync actions across services, Sentinel’s API provides the tools you need.

The latest Sentinel February Update brings major improvements to the evidence system and introduces the Public Registry, allowing for better ban list sharing and API control. Read on to learn about the key changes!
We've made important updates to the evidence system, giving moderators more flexibility in managing case details:
Comments can now be added to evidence – Whether evidence contains a file or not, you can now attach comments. This allows for better documentation and justification of bans.
Evidence expiration extended – Previously, evidence expired after 30 days, but we've pushed this to 60 days, giving you more time to review and retain important case data.
Upload evidence with links – Moderators can now submit evidence as a link, rather than just a file, making it easier to reference external sources using the new comments feature.
We've introduced the Public Registry, allowing communities to share their ban lists with others using a Public API Key. Here’s how it works:
Only users with your Public API Key can access your ban list.
Users with this key can only call the following endpoints:
/bans
– Retrieves the list of banned users.
/is-banned
– Checks if a specific user is banned.
Users with a Public API Key cannot:
Publish new bans
Edit existing bans
Modify or delete evidence
This feature ensures that trusted users can access ban data without compromising security or moderation control.
UPDATE
As of March 5th, 2025 /bans
has been blocked, and Public API keys may only now access the following endpoints:
* /is-banned
We are debating on removal of /bans
endpoint access for the Public API. Therefore we recommend relying on the /is-banned
endpoint only.
We've also applied a security improvement to the /is-banned
API endpoint, which now requires authentication.
If you are using the Sentinel Luau SDK, please update your integration to ensure continued functionality as the previous SDK Version cannot handle the new Authentication requirements without manual code modification.
These updates bring more control, better evidence management, and enhanced API security to Sentinel. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out in our Sentinel Discord Server.
Stay safe and keep moderating effectively!

You must be 13 years of age or older to use this application.
Sentinel collects and stores the following non-sensitive data:
Discord User IDs: Collected when a moderation action is performed (e.g., issuing or revoking a ban).
Roblox User IDs: Collected to associate moderation actions with Roblox users in the context of banning.
Data is only stored and used for the purpose of enabling moderation actions within Roblox experiences, specifically when:
A ban or unban action occurs.
A workspace is created in the Sentinel system.
Data is stored in a secure database, managed by SMG, and includes:
GUIDs: Globally unique identifiers for each ban and workspace.
Workspace Associations: Identifying which workspace (Roblox experience) a ban relates to.
Ban Status: Whether the ban is active and if it applies globally across all experiences or just one specific experience.
Only authorized engineers working under Metatable Games can access this database.
We retain the collected data for as long as necessary to provide our services and fulfill moderation actions. Users may request the removal of data where applicable.
Due to bans not being tied to any Personal-Identifiable Information (PII), we will not accept requests to "Forget" your ban. Bans can only be deleted by Authorized Workspace Administrators and the Workspace Owner.
Ban records are automatically deleted after 6 months of being marked inactive.
Messages and Images submitted in Channels accessible by Sentinel may be collected by our Artificial Intelligence provider(s) to train the models.
Training is specifically used only for Moderation purposes (Detecting bad language, bad symbols, etc) and not Generative AI (i.e: Midjourney, etc.)
Some of the AI models are ran locally without external HTTP Requests to 3rd-party websites.
SMG is not liable for any damages or losses resulting from misuse of the Sentinel system. By using Sentinel, users agree that the system is used at their own risk and in accordance with Roblox and Discord policies.

The Sentinel Moderation Bot enforces a structured data retention policy designed to balance effective moderation capabilities with optimal service performance. This policy outlines how long various types of data are retained and the rationale behind these practices.
Inactive Bans, Activity Logs, Analytics, and Inactive tickets.
Definition: "Inactive bans" include bans that have expired or have been manually lifted. Moderation logs encompass all recorded actions such as warnings, kicks, and temporary bans. Analytics refer to aggregated data related to user and moderation activity. "Inactive tickets" refer to Sentinel tickets that have been marked as resolved/closed.
Retention Period: These records are retained for a maximum of six months after that they will be deleted.
Purpose: This limitation ensures that unnecessary historical data does not burden the system, conserving storage space and maintaining service speed and reliability.
Active Bans
Definition: "Active bans" are bans that are either permanent or set without a specified expiration date.
Retention Period: These records are retained indefinitely, as they are essential for the enforcement of ongoing moderation policies.
Purpose: Permanent retention ensures the integrity of the moderation process by maintaining a record of unresolved or ongoing bans.
Data Storage Efficiency By limiting the retention period for inactive data, Sentinel minimizes the accumulation of redundant information. This efficient use of storage resources helps keep costs manageable and reduces the risk of service slowdowns due to excessive data loads.
System Performance The retention policy ensures that active and relevant data remains prioritized. Removing outdated logs and analytics after six months improves database query speed and overall system responsiveness, resulting in a smoother user experience.
Users are encouraged to export or back up important moderation logs within the six-month retention window if long-term access is needed. We provide tooling to mass-export within our Dashboard.
Once the retention period expires, inactive data will be automatically and permanently deleted, with no recovery options available.
This policy complies with relevant data protection standards and is subject to periodic review. Sentinel reserves the right to update this policy as needed to address changing technical, operational, or legal requirements. Any significant changes will be communicated to users promptly.
For inquiries or concerns regarding this policy, please contact Sentinel Support.
As we continue refining Sentinel, we’re excited to share a preview of the April Platform Update, which brings expanded Evidence Management and real-time Roblox Live-Stats for all users.
We're making major improvements to Evidence storage:
Standard Memberships will now gain access to the core Evidence system, a feature previously exclusive to Premium Memberships.
Premium Memberships will gain the ability to integrate their own AWS S3 storage, lifting limits on Evidence storage to unlimited*.
Unlimited storage only applies if you configure your own AWS S3 API keys, as you (the customer) are paying for your own storage. Premium users who continue using Sentinel’s default free AWS S3 storage will retain the current limits as of March 2025.
For those interested in setting up custom AWS S3 storage, you can purchase Object Storage from official AWS services or trusted resellers:
